Commercial Vehicle Registration

A commercial vehicle is defined as any vehicle weighing 10,001 lbs or more. 

Commercial Vehicle Titles - All

• Titles for ALL commercial vehicles should be applied for at the County Tag Office where the business is located or the individual resides. Read more about how-to Title a Newly Purchased Vehicle.
• For vehicles weighing 55,000 lbs or more IRS Form 2290 is required.

Commercial Vehicle Registration

• Operating within Georgia only - Registration for commercial vehicles traveling within Georgia (never traveling outside state borders) should register the vehicle at your County Tag Office.
• International Registration Plan (IRP) - Registration for commercial vehicles operating within Georgia and other states must be completed online at the Georgia Trucking Portal. IRP registrations cannot be processed at the Southmeadow MVD office or county tag offices.
